# Pattern Console — Tech Base Tools

LED test patterns, master screen layouts and field calculations at https://techbase.tools/.

## Access

- Pattern Feed and its single-pattern exports are free without signing in.
- **Download Project / Open Project require a registered, signed-in account.** Approval is not required for these two actions.
- The Field Calculator opens with any registered, signed-in account.
- Super-Compositions and production layout exports require Tech Base account approval.
- Public share links can be viewed without signing in. Creating or updating shares requires authentication and the appropriate access. Project files do not transfer share ownership or grant access.

## Make a pattern

1. Choose Tech Base, DVizon, Crosshair, Cyberpunk HUD, DSP Generator, Stage Wireframe or SMPTE Bars.
2. In **Tile Settings**, choose the tile mode:
   - **Fit canvas** keeps your canvas dimensions and fits a whole-number grid. The console shows a notice when actual cells differ from the selected panel pixels.
   - **Exact panel canvas** keeps panel pixels exact. Choose a panel preset, then set **Tiles W / H**. Canvas dimensions follow the panel count. For example, 15 × 8 panels at 128 × 128 produce 1920 × 1024.
   - **Manual grid** lets you choose dimensions and grid independently.
3. Set the LED name, colors and optional guides, slate text or PNG overlay.
4. Use **Export PNG**, or **Quick actions** next to Calculator to reach dimensions and pattern exports without scrolling through the settings.

Canvas: 64–8192 pixels per side. Grid: 1–64 per axis. Exact mode limits panel counts to keep the canvas in range. Custom panel sizes are in pixels.

## Signal reference output

The reference entries in **Color Preset** are dedicated diagnostic output: 100% white, black, red, green and blue fields; RGB primary bars; CMY secondary bars; and eleven grayscale steps from black to white.

These outputs omit labels, PNG overlays, guides and Quick Text. Decorative controls do not alter them. Select a regular palette to return to the normal pattern. These are sRGB code values, not a certification of connected equipment's calibration or brightness.

## Save and reopen a project

**Save Setup** stores the pattern in Composition Memory; **Save Super** stores a master layout. Libraries are saved on the current browser/device, not synchronized to your account.

1. Sign in and choose **Download Project** in Composition Memory or Quick actions.
2. Keep the `.tbproject` file: current pattern, pattern library, current master, master library, embedded images and calculator settings.
3. On another signed-in device, choose **Open Project** and select the file.

Opening adds libraries with new IDs. Existing entries remain; the previous current pattern and master are kept as **Before Open Project** entries. Share links and permissions are never imported. Calculator/Super approval still applies.

Opening does not upload the file. Limits: 12 MB, 200 patterns, 100 saved masters, 300 items per master. Images must be embedded PNG/JPEG/WebP/GIF, at most 8192 × 8192; external image addresses and SVG images are not loaded. Invalid files are rejected before library changes. A storage-quota error restores the prior library values.

Download a backup before clearing browser data. NovaLCT reference `.scr` files are not included; reload the reference when needed.

## Assemble a master

With an approved account, open **Super-Compositions**. Add saved feeds, text or PNGs; drag to position, align and zoom. Save in Super Comp Memory.

- **Export PNG / SVG** exports the master raster; SVG contains raster images.
- **Export Arena Layout / Composition** creates Resolume files.
- **Export to AE** creates a script for After Effects → File → Scripts → Run Script File.
- **Import XML** imports a supported Arena layout/composition and asks for a test-pattern style.

Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes; Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl/Cmd+Y redoes outside text fields. Delete/Backspace removes the selected master item. Keep project backups before substantial edits.

## Export choices

- **PNG:** rendered output including selected overlays, except diagnostic references.
- **SVG (embed):** that raster in an SVG wrapper, not native vector geometry.
- **Vector SVG / PDF:** geometry for DVizon, Crosshair, Stage Wireframe and SMPTE Bars, plus all diagnostic references. Normal text/PNG overlays are not included; use PNG or embedded SVG when needed.
- Tech Base, Cyberpunk HUD and DSP Generator use raster export. Vector buttons are unavailable unless a diagnostic reference is selected.

## Field Calculator

Sign in with any account; no approval is needed. The access dialog shows an example first. Modules cover LED resolution, data/power routing, horizontal blends, center/slice, portrait extraction, pixel gaps and throw/lens arithmetic. **Send to Raster** transfers wall dimensions and grid to Pattern Feed. **Export PDF** documents the active calculation and plot.

Read each panel's source note. Some wattages are class references; others are unknown. Confirm the actual panel label and manufacturer's chain limit before sizing power.

Screen files: `.uscr` for UNICO, `.srcx` for SmartLCT and template-based `.scr` for NovaLCT. A `.scr` reference must have the matching panel count. Validate the file on actual software/hardware before using it on a show.

## Offline

Open/install online first to cache assets. Patterns and cached local features can then run without venue Wi-Fi. Sign in online before relying on registered features. New sign-ins, approval, share updates and feedback need a connection. Offline availability depends on cached assets and the session retained by the browser.
